Faith Resources
A few simple places to start — whether you are opening a Bible for the first time, trying to pray again, or looking for people to walk with.
Look up a verse
Type any reference and read it in the NIV — for example Psalm 46:1.
Where to start reading
If you have never read the Bible
The Gospel of Mark
Sixteen short chapters, moving fast. It is the quickest honest look at who Jesus was and what he did. A chapter a day finishes it in about two weeks.
If you are anxious or worn out
Psalms 23, 34, 42, 46, 121, 139
The Psalms are prayers written by people in trouble. They do not tidy up their feelings before praying, and neither do you have to.
If you want to know what following Jesus asks of you
Matthew 5–7
The Sermon on the Mount. Three chapters that have unsettled and reshaped people for two thousand years.
If you are wrestling with grace and guilt
Romans 5–8
Paul at his clearest on what God has done, why it holds, and why nothing can separate you from it.
How to pray when you don't know how
Prayer is not a performance and there is no password. Say what is true: what you are afraid of, what you are grateful for, what you need, what you have done. If words will not come, borrow them — pray a psalm out loud, or the prayer Jesus taught in Matthew 6:9-13.
Five honest minutes beats an hour of pretending. Start where you actually are.
Finding a church
An AI can answer a question; a church can know your name. Look for a congregation near you that teaches the Bible plainly, treats people with dignity, and is glad to have you there before you have your life sorted out. Visit two or three. Sit at the back if you want to. Ask the questions you came with.
If you were hurt by a church before, that is real and it matters. Going slowly is not the same as staying away forever.
